DTAB is short for Down Town Auto Body. It’s the custom side of the shop: hot rods, C10 and square-body trucks, color changes and full restorations, built under the same roof at 118 W Main St. Owner Michael Johnson and the crew have turned out award-winning cars and trucks for customers from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Iowa and beyond.

Color changes, custom paint and show finishes. Paint is where Michael started as a kid in Shawnee, and it’s still the heart of the shop.

1954 Corvette Restomod
A barn-find 1954 Corvette, reshaped by hand with 1956 body lines and built in 76 days for the Spyder Auto booth at SEMA 2022. Since then it has won awards at shows across the country, including Goodguys at Texas Motor Speedway, and it led the Shawnee Christmas Parade.
On the show floor
DTAB Customs has been on the floor at SEMA and Goodguys, with multiple class wins at Goodguys events across several builds and several years. Brands have asked for DTAB builds for their SEMA booths year after year.
